The Utah Museum of Fine Arts and Salt Lake Art Center are pleased to present Final Light: V. Douglas Snow in Retrospect, a collaborative exhibition celebrating the work of eminent Utah landscape artist, V. Douglas Snow (1927-2009).”A painter, printmaker, and professor, Doug Snow lived and worked in Utah’s red rock country for over half a century…The retrospective exhibition examines Snow’s early Abstract Expressionist-inspired period from the 1950s, as well as later works from the last three decades of his life, which meld abstraction with realism to express his passion for Utah’s southern desert.”
The first time I saw a Doug Snow art show was in 1995. It was my first trip to the University of Utah’s Museum of Fine Arts and I was in awe of the beauty of his work. His use of color was exceptional. He loved the red rock landscape and often portrayed it in his work literally and abstract. Don’t miss this chance to see a collaboration of his work!
