Seeing Salt Lake City Through an iPhone

My husband Greg is an amateur photographer. He’s taken these pictures of Salt Lake City over the last few months. I love to see what he sees through his pictures. He goes to a lot of meetings downtown for work and notices something interesting each time.

Diner en Blanc

The tradition for Diner en Blanc began 20 years ago in Paris by François Pasquier. Thousands of people now attend the event every year in cities throughout the world. Two weeks ago Salt Lake City held their own version called Dinner in White. It was everything we expected it would be and so much more!

This is how it works. You register to attend the event weeks in advance. You start gathering your white outfits, white table, chairs, and table decor. Then you start planning the meal you will bring along with some delicious desserts to share with the group. The day of the event the secret location is finally revealed. Then it really begins, people, dressed all in white, all meet for a mass “chic picnic” in a public space.

Andrea and I got take out from Simply Thai, best thai food ever. We packed up all of our white gear and we were off. The party was held on the small island at Liberty Park. It was the perfect venue for the event. We had such a fun evening meeting new people, enjoying each others company, and participating in the best new tradition in SLC.

Home for Sale

One of the great things about my job as a Realtor is seeing wonderful houses! Some are move-in ready, some were real showstoppers decades ago, and others have hidden potential. Each week I tour homes that are listed for sale by our office as well as show homes to my clients. I thought I would feature houses on here that I find interesting, if they catch your eye I am happy to show them to you too.:)

The house I am featuring this week is a bit dated but has a flare for style. It’s located in a quiet neighborhood in Murray. It has 5 bedrooms, 4 baths, 4,220 square feet and is listed at $400,000.

I love the bookshelves that stretch to the ceiling of the two-story living room. If you would like to read a book from the top shelf you can reach it from the catwalk.

This home has rose-colored carpet and floral wallpaper, but with a fabulous berber carpet and a cream paint (Benjiman Moore-mayonaise), the beautiful oak baseboard and trim would look sleek and modern.

I love natural light. In the next home I purchase for myself, I would like sky lights like these that let light into every room.

This house has a beautifully landscaped yard and you can choose to have your breakfast on a tiled deck or patio each morning.

Good Eats

We spent Spring Break in Phoenix and ate out at a few delicious restaurants. It got me thinking about some of the great food we have had recently and some restaurants we want to try. I thought I would throw out a little review of some of our favorite places to eat in hopes that you will return the favor and let us know of some of your favorite eateries.

Simply Thai
I can’t get enough of this place lately. They offer a great lunch menu for $6.99, come on where can you eat great food these days for $6.99! I always get the gang massaman, why you ask, because it’s DELICIOUS. They are also located in Sandy which is super close to work.

Copper Onion
We have only eaten here once but I can’t stop talking about how good it was. It has a great atmosphere and made us feel like we were in New York City. Whenever Andrea and I go out we like to share a meal so that we can also try an appetizer and usually some dessert. We started off with mussels with a creamy black pepper sauce that is by far the most delicious sauce I have ever tasted in my life. I could have put it in a cup and drank it! Next we went for the wagyu (not sure what that even means) beef stroganoff. I’m usually not a big fan of beef stroganoff but this dish definitely changed my mind.

Stella Grill
This place never disappoints. They are owned by the same people who own Red Butte Cafe and their menus are quite similar. We usually hit Stella’s just because it is closer to our house. I always get the carne asada tacos. They also have some great desserts to finish off your meal.

Epic
This restaurant is located in a bit of random spot but it’s so good. Andrea and I always share a flat bread, Ken’s salad with baby mixed greens, roasted tomato vinaigrette, apples, the best house dried tomatoes, and fontina cheese & candied pecans. Next we move to the main course which is usually grilled beef tenderloin with port reduction, blue cheese butter and shallot herb mashed potatoes. Sometimes we get the ahi tuna which is also fantastic.

Well, those are some of our favorites. Here is a list of ones we want to try.
Plum Alley
Vuz
Les Madeleines (I’ve eaten here and love it but I need to take Andrea)

Alright, help us out with this list and let us know some of your favorite places to eat.
