Threshold

Every magazine I open these days has a large advertisement for Target’s new line Threshold. The photos are charming, stylish and full of great furniture and accessories.

I decided to look up all the goods on Target’s website. These are some of the many treasures I saw that would be a good addition to our home.

Tablescapes For Your Easter Celebration

As I picked these Easter tablescapes to feature on my blog I noticed one commonality, fresh flowers. Whether the flowers are in a glass vase, a painted tin can or a can wrapped in denim or Peeps candy, they scream Spring is here! I hope these table settings inspire you. Have a wonderful Easter weekend!

Home for Sale

One of the great things about my job as a Realtor is seeing wonderful houses! Some are move-in ready, some were real showstoppers decades ago, and others have hidden potential. Each week I tour homes that are listed for sale by our office as well as show homes to my clients. I thought I would feature houses on here that I find interesting, if they catch your eye I am happy to show them to you too.:)

The house I am featuring this week is a bit dated but has a flare for style. It’s located in a quiet neighborhood in Murray. It has 5 bedrooms, 4 baths, 4,220 square feet and is listed at $400,000.

I love the bookshelves that stretch to the ceiling of the two-story living room. If you would like to read a book from the top shelf you can reach it from the catwalk.

This home has rose-colored carpet and floral wallpaper, but with a fabulous berber carpet and a cream paint (Benjiman Moore-mayonaise), the beautiful oak baseboard and trim would look sleek and modern.

I love natural light. In the next home I purchase for myself, I would like sky lights like these that let light into every room.

This house has a beautifully landscaped yard and you can choose to have your breakfast on a tiled deck or patio each morning.

Swimsuits

This word gives me a bit of stress. I detest looking for swimsuits. I think most of us aren’t super comfortable parading around with little clothing on so we all would like to find one that enhances the good parts of us and does not draw attention to the not so good parts. I remember that as a teenager looking for a swimsuit was a lot of work and back then I had more good parts to my body.:) While we were in the dressing room trying on my pile of swimwear my mom once told me about her favorite swimsuit that she had purchased in college. She and some friends went to Hawaii to work for the summer and they found this company that made the swimwear just for your body. They took the measurements and you picked the fabric and they tailor-made your swimsuit. That sounds wonderful don’t you think? I think of it every time the season begins and I re-enter the dressing room with an armful of swimsuits hoping that one will fit like it was made just for me!

However, I don’t know of a company that does that and if there was one I am sure I could not afford it.:)

Here are some of this seasons swimsuits I found while shopping online:

Crate and Barrel was Started with $17,000

There was a fascinating article in the January issue of Fortune Magazine about the couple that started Crate and Barrel. I love to read stories like this one, where with a little money and a lot of hard work someone achieves their dream!

Gordon and Carole Segal were 23 years old. They took $17,000 from their savings and wedding gifts to open a furniture store that had chic, contemporary furniture at affordable prices.

Carole Segal: We had registered {for their wedding presents} at Marshall Field, but the things we really liked were too expensive for our family and friends.

Gordon: When we went to the Caribbean for our honeymoon, we found a couple of stores in the Virgin Islands with Scandinavian designs and good prices. One day I was washing the dishes we had bought and said, “There’s got to be other young couples with good taste and no money like us. Why don’t we open a store?”

Carole: Our whole philosophy was, “What do we have to lose?”
